WA College of Agriculture - Open Day 2020

Open Day 2020 at the WA College of Agriculture – Morawa, was a run on an alternative format due to COVID restrictions. Visitors were able to glimpse aspects of student life on the 3500 hectare farm, with afirst-hand view of the College farm enterprises;- cattle, the piggery, sheep, the cropping program and a close up look at the residential campus and school facilities.

Demonstrations stations were operating through out the morning in the shearing shed, cattle sheds, automotive, engineering, classrooms and visitors were able to sample some of the MOWAG meat at the cooking stations. 

Classroom displays gave students the opportunity to showcase their work and the variety of subjects students can study, and parents were able to meet with class teachers to discuss student work, academic and social progress.

This year, visitors also had the opportunity to purchase sausages made on the premise. These were a huge hit!

The College Trade Training Centre never fails to impress – with its modern, engineering and automotive equipment, the centre caters for students from Years 10 to 12 giving them access to vocational training leading into apprenticeships.

“As part of our comprehensive education and training opportunities, we provide students with the opportunity to study the Certificate II in Agriculture, Certificate II in Automotive Vocational Preparation and Certificate II Engineering Pathways. Students also have access to the Trade Training Centre facilities on a daily basis,” said Principal Dean Carslake.
